Amaarae – Leave Me Alone
Amaarae – Leave Me Alone

Ghanaian songbird, Amaarae comes with a brand song record called “Leave Me Alone.”

Leave Me Alone’s dance hall-inflected riddim is a pure West African sound, full of lush and overarching guitar licks that pull abundantly from the high-life and Afrobeat tradition.

Lyrically, “Leave Me Alone” is about learning how to protect one’s peace irrespective of underlying circumstances. “Talking, Talking, Talk, but talk is cheap– me nuh need favor from no one but God, plus I’ve got me.”

Amaarae sings, her voice a re-assuring fix that sashays gently atop the Stalag riddim-sounding drum bop.
